Liivia Leškin "Resiliency"

ARS Stuudio 98 5.03.–22.04.2025

Mon–Fri 12–18

“Just go out and have a look around. Things are simple in nature: resiliency is needed to protect from cold, wet, hunger, from all small and big difficulties. Look at nature and learn. Remember that day in childhood when you found some small pieces of wood in a spring ... they turned out to be protection for a tiny fragile creature inside to be able to fly one day.”

Liivia Leškin graduated in 1980 from the Estonian National Art Institute (Estonian Academy of Arts), majoring in fashion. She has worked at Tallinn Fashion House, published the magazine Siluett and worked as a lecturer at the Estonian Academy of Arts and has also been a guest lecturer at several Scandinavian art colleges. Leškin was a founding member of the collective ON Grupp which was initiated by a group of applied artists and designers. From 1994 to 2020 she has managed her fashion design company. Liivia has participated in numerous personal and group exhibitions as a fashion designer, illustrator, costume artist and painter, and she has created, among other things, large-scale interior textiles. She is a member of the Estonian Artist Association. Since 2019, Liivia Leškin has dedicated herself entirely to painting and shown her work in six distinct solo exhibitions. She lives and works in Haapsalu.
